Beach Bums

Well, with the weather being as gorgeous as it has been lately, we couldn't help but spend most of the day outdoors. We started out by eating a picnic lunch out in our backyard. Then after lunch we packed up the car, and headed to the beach. (Twice in one week for Abby and me.)
Gerritt said that this was relaxing......he sure does look relaxed.

We took Abby out to get her feet wet. She was really excited up until the time she got wet. The water is still really cold.

Here's Daddy and Abby!

Yep, she got her claws on sand, and the first place it went was straight into her mouth!

10 Months

Abby is ten months old today. Where has the time gone? I think she is definitely growing up too fast! Abby and I went out to enjoy the weather today. It is beautiful outside, and expected to be good the rest of the week and through the weekend. Yay! I love sunshine. Here are some random pics from our backyard playtime.

A Day at the Beach

Today Abby and I, along with my friend Bree and her 3 kids, and a new friend with her 2 kids went out to enjoy the day. The weather is pretty nice, but is only supposed to be like this today. We went out to Richmond Beach. It's out along the shore of the Puget Sound, and it was so much fun to get out and enjoy the day. With the three of us we had 6 kids, with 4 age one or below, and the other 2 are two. We must be crazy, and I think we looked it trudging along out to the beach and back. But, the beach offers many experiences that are too good to pass up.......There was a little water exploration by the two older kids, and a lot of new things to taste, like sand, seaweed, and rocks for the babies.
Here's Abby deciding if she likes the rocky beach or not.

Yep, she's used to it now, and is all smiles!

But nothing beats the taste of this rock! Yum!(At least she didn't get her hands in the sand.) All in all, this was a fun little trip!

I Think I'm Paranoid......

Well, I never thought I'd be one to use a shopping cart cover.......I thought they were for paranoid moms. I guess I've become one. I decided that the use of this contraption was necessary since Abby puts her mouth on, and gnaws on everything she can get to. (But, still no teeth.) I have searched high and low for one that would be fun and unique for Abby, but to no avail, so I decided to be a happy homemaker and sew one myself. I was able to find all the stuff I needed, and picked out the cutest fabric---purple with frogs. My favorite color is purple, and Abby's favorite toy is a frog that she got from her Uncle Ira and Aunt Traci when she was still the size of a peanut in my belly.
And that's about as far as I got. Without the help, guidance, much patience, and the sacrifice of a sewing machine from my mother-in-law, it would not have turned out. (Yes, I broke her sewing machine, but it is easily fixed. I think it was trying to tell me something........never try to sew again!) It was worth it. Abby very much enjoyed the new view from the cart.

Vacation?

Do you ever feel like you need a vacation after your vacation? I know that's how I've been feeling the last couple of days. Abby and I got home from Utah Wednesday night, and ever since then we have been bumming around trying to recuperate from the trip.
During the last week of our trip we both got sick. I was sick first, and am feeling better now, but Abby got sick on Sunday and still has a bit of a cold. I've been keeping her hydrated, and she is sleeping tons, so hopefully she'll kick this soon!
Here are a few more pics of our trip....
The weather was so nice that Abby and I went out to enjoy it. And, in case you're wondering, Abby still doesn't like to be on the grass.
Abby and her cuz hitting the chair to make noise. (one of Abby's favorite things to do.)
Abby and her cuz got into lots of mischeif together. Here they are eating Cheerios off the floor after they dumped the box out. Gross I know, but I couldn't help but laugh!
Well, laundry calls! The joys of being home after a vacation!
